lemlist and JRNY both touch outreach, but they are different kinds of product. lemlist is an outbound sales engagement platform built around sending volume: multichannel campaigns, a lead database and email warm-up. JRNY is a small CRM that drafts emails with AI and sends them from your own Gmail account, with a person approving every campaign message before it goes.

Transparency note: JRNY is built by BetterQA, a software testing company in Cluj-Napoca. We will say where lemlist is the better pick, and for outbound at volume it clearly is.

The core difference

lemlist assumes you need a machine for reaching people at scale: find leads, warm up sending domains, and run email and other channels from one workflow.

JRNY is the CRM side. Companies, contacts, notes and email history live in one place, and outreach is a smaller feature of it. The trade is volume and reach. JRNY has no lead database, and in a standard workspace no LinkedIn outreach. SMS and WhatsApp are not in JRNY campaigns. It is slower on purpose.

What JRNY does today

You import an .xlsx file and JRNY handles duplicate rows. Companies move through the statuses Pre, Hot, Cold, Signed and Closed.

You connect Gmail and send from JRNY, with the sent message kept on the record. AI drafts emails, replies and follow-ups on your own OpenRouter key. You can paste meeting notes and have JRNY extract the contact, timeline, budget, urgency and a fit score.

Email campaigns turn on when you connect Gmail, with a manual approval mode. Gmail warm-up is opt-in: it stays off until you press "Start Warmup" (the default is manual). Once started, the daily limit ramps from 5 emails a day over 45 days, and sending pauses if the bounce rate climbs while warming up. That is a send-limit schedule, not a deliverability product.

Where each one is stronger

lemlist is the closer fit if you send cold email in volume and care about deliverability. Warm-up is a core lemlist feature, called lemwarm. lemlist is also the one to look at if you want SMS, WhatsApp or a large built-in lead database, or if you already have a CRM and want an outreach layer on top.

JRNY is the better fit if your data starts in a spreadsheet and you want a CRM that stays simple, with records, notes and AI-drafted email that a person approves.

Pricing

lemlist sells plans with separate tiers for email-only and multichannel outreach, plus add-ons. Pricing is based on the number of users, so check lemlist's pricing page for your team size. Its page also lists:

  • 14-day free trial

JRNY is free for the first year, on one plan, with no credit card. AI features run on your own OpenRouter API key and you pay OpenRouter directly.

These are not like-for-like prices. lemlist's includes sending infrastructure and a lead database; JRNY's does not.

Frequently asked questions

Is JRNY a lemlist alternative?

Only for a narrow case. If you mainly need a simple CRM that also sends AI-drafted email with approvals, yes. If you need high-volume cold email with warm-up, SMS and a lead database, lemlist is the closer fit.

Does JRNY have email warm-up?

In a limited form, and only if you turn it on. JRNY sends through your connected Gmail accounts, and warm-up stays off until you press "Start Warmup" (the default is manual). Once started, it ramps the daily send limit from 5 emails a day over 45 days, pausing if the bounce rate climbs while warming up. lemlist includes lemwarm, a dedicated warm-up and deliverability product, and is the stronger choice if deliverability is your main concern.

Can JRNY and lemlist work together?

They can. Some teams keep their records in JRNY and run high-volume sequences elsewhere, moving contacts between the two by export and import.
